The Mum Test

The mum test is a common phrase in the care industry and refers to the question, “would you allow your mum to stay here?”

The idea behind it is that a person’s mum is typically one of the closest loved ones a person has so if they think that a care home is good enough for their mum to stay there then they really like the home. As well as the quality care it provides.

Here at Heaton House, almost everything we do revolves around this standard. We may not actually be looking after our own mums, but we work and care as if we are.

A wonderful poem that was written by a loved one who has a relative staying with us at Heaton House. It reads, 'Thanks to the staff at Heaton House, you're a very special crew. Looking after everyone in that lovely way you do. Through these varied and troubled times it's a load off my mind, knowing mums being cared for and treated really kind. So bless you one and all and thanks for giving your best. For in our eyes at what you do you're simply the best.
